Hans Boskamp (RIP).

Hans Boskamp (May 12th, 1932 - March 21st, 2011) was a Dutch actor & former association footballer who dubbed OSCAR THE GROUCH on Sesamstraat, the Dutch co-production of SESAME STREET.

Boskamp performed in several well known Dutch TV series & movies, including Oppassen!!!, Floris, & Turkish Delight from director Paul Verhoeven.

He was also a very good friend of John Lennon. When both Lennon & Yoko Ono wanted to protest against the Vietnam War, Hans Boskamp suggested the idea to hold their first of 2 Bed-Ins for Peace in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, & personally arranged their stay in the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel.

Boskamps real name was Johannes Hendricus Gerardus Hoelscher. His stage name was analogous to his fathers, actor Johan Boskamp, whose birth name was Johan Adriaan Hoelscher.

Club careerEdit

Rotterdam-born Boskamp played his club football in Amsterdam for Ajax, BVC Amsterdam & DWS.[1]

International careerEdit

Boskamp made his debut for the Netherlands in a September 1952 friendly match against Denmark & earned a total of 4 caps, scoring no goals. His final international was a May 1954 friendly match against Switzerland.[2]

Acting careerEdit

After retiring as a footballer, Boskamp became an actor.[3]

Later life & deathEdit

Boskamp died of a stroke on March 21st, 2011, at the age of 78.[4]
