SESAME STREET, Inc. (ASCAP)
The song, originally recorded back in 1982, was made into a Season 26 insert. OSCAR, in the segment, sings the song on a stormy day in the park, eventually backed by a GROUCH choir (GRUNDGETTA included). Elmo, Zoe, Telly Monster, Rosita, a Honker, Benny Rabbit, Dip the Cat, Grover & Cookie Monster make cameos, being blown away in the storm.
Oh there are days, when skies are gray
& everything goes wrong
When I start yelling, "Go away!"
& people say, "So long!"
When everything’s in disarray
I’m right where I belong
When fun’s away on holiday
This GROUCH must sing this song
Yes there are days when skies are gray
& all the world looks YUCKY
When clouds & rain won't go away
The road I’m on turns mucky
My feet splash in the mud & hey,
My toes get wet & gucky
Yes everything just goes my way
I feel so gosh-darn lucky!
(The GROUCH Chorale joins in.)
OSCAR: Everybody sing!
(Sung in grand style)
(spoken, with music still playing)
OSCAR: Hey! Ah, I wish every day was like this!
GRUNDGETTA: Ah, ME too, OSKIE!
OSCAR: Well, if wishes were GARBAGE trucks, GROUCHES would ride!
GRUNDGETTA: So true, so true!
OSCAR: Let's just enjoy the moment. Yeah.
