Stephen J. Lawrence (b. September 5th 1939)[1] has been a composer for SESAME STREET since 1980.

In addition to his work composing for film, theater & TV, he composed the title song & others for Free To Be...You & Me, the landmark Gold Record, book & Emmy-winning ABC TV special. He composed the million-selling song "You Take My Breath Away", which earned 2 Gold Records. He composed over 250 songs & scores for SESAME STREET for which he received 3 shared Emmy Awards.
